Top Five Favorite Storage Solutions

It can be intimidating walking up and down the plastic bin and decorative basket isles trying to find the best storage solutions for your home or business. But fear not! I am sharing a few of my favorite storage solutions for you. Keep in mind that you will want to declutter before purchasing storage bins.

SHOE BOXES

As much as we would love to think that our feet don’t stink, don’t fool yourself! One of my biggest pet peeves is walking into someone’s home, seeing a pile of shoes and being blasted with feet funk. If you are trying to sell your home, I highly recommend controlling the smell in your closet or entry way by containing them in sealed plastic bins. Sprays and sneaker balls aren’t enough.

BEAN BAG STORAGE

My kids love stuffed animals and truth be told this is an area of clutter that is difficult to control. But then I found bean bag stuffed animal storage! In addition to controlling the clutter, it serves as a fun place for my kids to sit. Another idea is to fill the bean bags with blankets.

BASKETS WITH HANDLES

These are fabulous in the pantry for easy access to snacks! When you come home from the store, remove the snacks from their packing and line them up for your family to easily grab. Pro tip – put the sweets on the top shelf!

UNDERBED STORAGE

If space is an issue, under your bed is a great solution! The soft sided bins are good for carpet and rolling bins for hardwood floors. I recommend putting your bedding and blankets under the bed for easy access when changing the sheets. Ideally you don’t want to see the bins, so use a bedskirt or push the box closer to the middle.

CUBES

A versatile solution that can be used for toys, crafts, clothes, linens and so much more are cubes. There are many decorative fabrics or baskets to choose from and it tames clutter! Since they vary in size, put one in your entry way closet to hold gloves, hats and scarves. Also useful as a tv stand because you can put your DVD’s in the baskets and DVD player on an empty shelf (if you haven’t totally transitioned to streaming).

Containing the clutter and creating an organized home has so many benefits ranging from cleanliness to emotional wellbeing. These five storage ideas are small steps to helping you create a tranquil environment. If you find yourself getting stuck a professional organizer will offer creative and helpful solutions that are guaranteed to bring lasting harmony.
